WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Dickinson women's soccer team outshot the 22nd-ranked McDaniel College 17-9 on Wednesday, including a 9-2 edge over the second 45 minutes but ultimately a 14th-minute tally by Madyson Hill was all the Green Terror needed to stave off the Red and White 1-0 in Centennial Conference action at the MC Soccer Complex.
- After the two sides struggled to find their footing through the first five minutes, it was the home side that applied the pressure recording the opening six shots of the match resulting in five stops for Sophia Kavulich.
- However, McDaniel did find the opener at the 13:23 mark when Abby Witzel was able to flick a pass over the DC backline to Madyson Hill who stuck a shot over the keeper's head for the 1-0 lead.
- The Red and White then answered with chances from Lauren Ervin, Ashley McSweeney, Ava Prisco and Maddie St. Amand, unfortunately, none of them bothered Lauren Hoolahan in the McDaniel net.
- Hoolahan was finally called into action with just under two minutes left when she turned away Prisco to send the match to the break.Â
- Both teams would require their keeper to come up with a stop inside the opening five minutes with Prisco turned away by Hoolahan, while Jessica Weinoldt was shutdown by Kavulich.
- Over the ensuing 20 minutes Dickinson had three of four shots as McSweeney and St. Amand missed wide with Bridget Merkel asking a question of Hoolahan.
- The Red and White continued to send numbers forward leading to five more shots coming from Norah Heacock, Ervin (2), Merkel and Prisco, but they only called upon Hoolahan one more time as her stop perserved the 1-0 final.
- Shots - Ervin and Prisco (4), McSweeney and St. Amand (3)
- Saves - Kavulich (6)
- Goals - Hill (1)
- Shots - Hill and Hurley (2)
