KANSAS CITY - The Dickinson women's soccer team kept the awards coming on Tuesday as junior
Lila Brown and sophomore
Bridget Merkel were selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team as announced by the organization. Brown was tabbed for the First Team, while Merkel nabbed Third Team honors.
First Team
Brown, a native of Washington, D.C., had a phenomenal year serving as the main anchor of the Devils backline appearing in all 19 matches, starting in 18 of them. She helped the Dickinson defense to only concede 17 goals against for the season, while at the other end of the pitch she was an offensive threat getting involved in the attack and helping the Red and White to earn 108 corner. Even as a defender Brown was a key cog in the offensive efforts as well notching a team-high six goals, including a brace against DeSales University (9/3) as well as picking up an assist in the match-winning marker on the road at Franklin & Marshall (10/16) in a huge conference clash.
Second Team
Merkel, the resident of Pittsford, New York, appeared in and started 18 games for Dickinson tallying two goals and two assists on 26 shots (14 on target). Her two goals came in conference fixtures against Muhlenberg (9/28) and Haverford (10/5). Late in the season, she turned into a provider for the Devils setting up one of two markers against Bryn Mawr in the regular season finale (11/2), before setting up
Maddie St. Amand for the double overtime winner versus Swarthmore in the Centennial Conference Tournament First Round.
