LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson men's swimming team started off their 2024-25 campaign on Saturday afternoon by taking part in the Centennial East Quad Meet hosted by Franklin & Marshall College inside the Kunkel Aquatic Center. The Red and White nabbed victories in all three matchups besting Washington College (163-98), Ursinus College (168-93) and a surprise win over the host Franklin & Marshall (131-130).
The day began with the unit of Daulton Dendall,
Samson Qu,
Justin Wong and
James Wright winning the 200-yard medley relay with a 1:35.07.
Joe Apat,
Nolan Chenot,
Frederico Colloca-Bianchi and
Jack Engel grabbed eighth at 1:41.52, while
Damon Buchanan, Matt Ferenz,
Aidan Keillor and
Jace Pedicone nabbed tenth by getting to the qall in 1:45.80.
Alexander Kanard took second in the 1000-yard freestyle thanks to a 10:06.93, followed by
Benjamin Brandt in fifth (10:48.42).
During the 200-yard freestyle Kendall finished off the podium spots earning third (1:50.14) narrowly holding off Keillor in fourth at 1:50.71. Buchanan also took part in the race claiming ninth in 1:54.36.
The trio of Wright, Colloca-Bianchi and Ferenz competed in the 100-yard backstroke posting times of 53.85 (3rd), 55.71 (5th) and 58.51 (9th).
Chenot and Apat did battle in the 100-yard breaststroke getting to the wall in 1:04.71 (11th) and 1:05.52 (12th) respectively.
Andrew Kelley fell just outside of a podium spot for the 200-yard butterfly as he seized fourth (2:04.37), followed right behind by
Paul Florio (2:05.59). Pedicone rounded out the field in 11th thanks to a 2:28.39.
The Devils second win of the day came in the 50-yard freestyle where Qu paced the pack with a 20.76. Kanard clocked in at 22.76 (8th) ahead of Engel in 10th (23.07).
Dickinson placed third and fourth during the 100-yard freestyle as Kendall edged out Wong with times of 48.49 and 49.10. Engel reached the wall in 51.25 for ninth.
The Red and White placed two on the podium in the 200-yard backstroke as Wright won the event by hitting the wall in 1:58.66, while Colloca-Bianchi nabbed third (2:02.25). Ferenz ended in eighth freezing the timer at 2:09.55.
Apat earned another Top-3 result for DC during the 200-yard breaststroke as his 2:20.80 was good for third. Keillor posted a 2:22.41 for fifth, followed by Florio in sixth (2:22.42).
Another win for the Devils occurred in the 500-yard freestyle where Kanard finished with a time of 5:04.73. Buchanan and Brandt locked up sixth (5:13.87) and seventh (5:14.25).
The strong swimming for the Red and White continued during the 100-yard butterfly where Qu topped the field thanks to his 51.28. The trio of Chenot, Kelley and Pedicone took up fourth (54.34), sixth (54.64) and eleventh (1:00.16).
Wright then won the 200-yard individual medley with a 2:00.24, followed by Florio (6th - 2:05.45), Apat (8th - 2:07.86) and Ferenz (11th - 2:14.00).
The day ended with the unit of Chenot, Kendall, Qu and Wong claiming third for the 400-yard freestyle relay by stopping the clock in 3:15.06. The second team with Engel, Kanard, Keillor and Kelley rounded out the Top-5 with a 3:21.40, while the other group of Brandt, Buchanan, Colloca-Bianchi and Pedicone finished in tenth (3:29.19).
