Devil Women Suffer First Loss of Season

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Dickinson women's tennis went in search of their second win of their spring break trip on Monday afternoon when they squared off with Concordia University out of Wisconsin. Unfortunately, for the Red and White the Falcons were able to hold on for the slim 5-4 win at Hilton Head High School.

Doubles (Falcons 2-1)
Dickinson claimed their lone win at the number one slot where the team of Izzy Desjardins and Martine Fierro played a nip-and-tuck match with Ricki Budewitz and Ashley Samuta. With things tied 7-7 the contest was decided by a tiebreaker where the Red Devils secured a 7-4 win. Then, in the second spot Ariana Goitz and Molly Michel had to go the distance against Cheyanne Phillips and Mya Werning, but ultimately came up short in a 7-5 tiebreak. The other unit of Dana Kleinman and Alisa Steele struggled a little bit on the afternoon dropping an 8-4 decision to Mia Andrae and Mallory Moen.

Singles (Tied 3-3)
Fierro picked up her second win of the day at number one where she posted a straight set win over Budewitz (6-3, 6-3). The Red and White also claimed a victory in the fifth slot as Desjardins earned herself a 6-0, 7-5 win against Andrae. The other Dickinson triumph was at number six where Anabelle Armendarez and Peyton Morgan traded the first two sets, before the Devil took the tiebreaker 10-6. Steele had a match point opportunity in deciding super-tiebreaker against Moen in the third flight, unfortunately she fell just shy of victory dropping a 7-5, 1-6, 8-10 decision. Goitz and Kleinman both fell in straight sets at the second and fourth spots respectively.
