YORK, Pa. - The Dickinson men's swim team returned to the pool on Wednesday night making the short trip down to the York Natatorium for a matchup with the York College of Pennsylvania Spartans. Despite winning five races on the night it was not enough for the Red and White as the Spartans left with a 108-97 win.
In the first event of the meet the 200-yard medley relay the top team of
Nolan Chenot,
Frederico Colloca-Bianchi,
Daulton Kendall and
Justin Wong clocked in a 1:41.35 for second, while the crew of
Paul Florio,
Henry Lease,
Sunil Surprenant and
Daniel Vasquez finished in 1:45.74 for fourth.
Dickinson held down all three podium spots in the 1000-yard freestyle with Alex Kanard winning the event in 10:28.43, followed by
Aidan Keillor (10:34.41) and
Ben Lilly (10:41.01).
The Devils grabbed their second win during the 200-yard freestyle thanks to
James Wright and his time of 1:48.04. Two other members of the Red and White competed with
Andrew Kelley and
Avery Coonin taking fourth (1:52.12) and seventh (2:02.59) respectively.
Kendall earned a Top-3 finish in the 50-yard freestyle landing in second after posting a time of 21.73.
Reid Schattgen (22.34),
Aaron Stern (23.50) and
Patrick Dunn (25.08) also took part in the race.Â
Another DC victory came at the 200-yard individual medley when Vasquez clocked in at 2:03.51 to edge out the Spartans Matthew Peters (2:04.11). Wong came in fourth with a 2:06.01, while Florio seized fifth (2:06.45).Â
The fourth win of the night happened in the 100-yard butterfly as Chenot bested the seven swimmer field with a 54.50, while Kelley finished in fourth at 57.31.
Sam Strieb made an appearance as well posting a 1:05.76.
Kendall secured a Top-3 result during the 100-yard freestyle landing in third after hitting the wall in 48.61. The trio of Schattgen (49.22), Surprenant (52.90) and Stern (54.34) competed as well.
Two Devils found their way to the podium in the 100-yard backstroke with Colloca-Bianchi taking second in 56.43, followed by Vasquez in third (58.43). Dunn finished fifth with a 1:04.72.
Dickinson held down two through four during the 500-yard freestyle thanks to the group of Kanard (4:59.54), Wright (5:01.90) and Keillor (5:09.08).Â
Wong notched the final win of the evening for the Red and White with a time of 1:01.29 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Lease clocked in at 1:04.53 for fourth.
To round out the night the unit of Chenot, Kanard, Schattgen and Wright took second in the 200-yard freestyle relay by stopping the clock at 1:29.67, while the team of Colloca-Bianchi, Keillor, Kelley and Surprenant were four seconds back (1:33.75).
