CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's squash team claimed their first win of the season on Friday night by eeking out a 5-4 victory over the visiting Saints of Saint Lawrence University at the Kline Squash Center.
Inside the Match
The biggest match of the night was also the final one as the number four battle between
Victoria Savelius and Ulrikke Bore Ribesen was to determine the match with the score tied at 4-4. The two combatants traded 11-5 wins, before Savelius took a 2-1 edge with an 11-9 win. However, Ribesen answered back with a four-point victory 11-7. The DC player would not be deterred though as she closed out the Devils win with an 11-6 triumph in the deciding fifth.
Elizabeth Howerton in the ninth flight went the distance against Tita Hicks as the Devil had the chance to close out the match in the fourth game thanks to holding a 2-1 edge, but Hicks was able to secure the 11-8 win. Howerton showed her grit in the fifth to seize the victory with the 11-7 victory. The pair of
Jocelyn Feliciano and
Whitney Finney playing at the fifth and second spots respectively each racked up a 3-1 win.
Doxey Loupassi was too much for Ksenia Merkulova dispatching of the Saints player 12-10, 12-10, 11-8.Â
