CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson men's swimming team did their best to keep their winning streak alive against the visiting rival Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday afternoon at the Clarke Aquatic Center. Unfortunately, for the Red and White the Diplomats were able to swim away from Carlisle with a 166-95 Centennial Conference win.
Dickinson had a solid showing in the 200-yard medley relay with the team of
Nolan Chenot,
Daulton Kendall,
Reid Schattgen, and
Justin Wong clocking in at 1:39.49 for second place just one second off the winning time. The Devils also grabbed fifth thanks to a time of 1:43.95 from
Frederico Colloca-Bianchi, Paul Florio, Henry Lease, and
Aaron Stern.
Alexander Kanard picked up the first win for the Red and White during the 1000-yard freestyle by touching the wall in 10:19.76, which was eleven seconds better than the closest competitor. Ben Lilly clocked in at 10:36.99 for fourth.
First-year James Wright claimed the second win for the home side with a time of 1:47.07 in the 200-yard freestyle.
Aidan Keillor and
Sam Strieb also competed in the event finishing in 1:52.23 and 2:02.71 respectively.
Colloca-Bianchi occupied the only spot on the podium for DC during the 100-yard backstroke finishing in second by stopping the clock at 55.69.
Daniel Vasquez landed in fifth with a time of 58.48.
Dickinson held down second and third within the 100-yard breaststroke thanks to Wong (1:03.19) and Lease (1:04.12). Stern clocked in at 1:07.82 for sixth.
The Devils filled the podium for the 200-yard butterfly with Schattgen winning the race in 2:00.59 to hold off teammates Andrew Kelley by three seconds (2:03.94) and Florio (2:06.58).
Kendall was the highest finishing DC swimmer in the 50-yard freestyle taking third in 22.21, while Chenot (22.83) and
Sunil Surprenant (23.99) also competed in the event. Kendall then repeated the process during the 100-yard freestyle grabbing another third-place finish stopping the clock in 49.27.
The Red and White took up second through fourth in the 200-yard backstroke thanks to Colloca-Bianchi (2:01.89), Wright (2:03.00), and Vasquez (2:07.93).
Kanard landed in second during the 500-yard freestyle by hitting the wall in 5:02.29, while Keillor rounded out the Top-5 with a mark of 5:05.86.
Two of the three podium spots held Devils in the 100-yard butterfly with Chenot taking second in 55.13, before Schattgen clocked in at 55.23.
Vasquez (2:06.77), Florio (2:07.42), and Kelley (2:08.23) occupied slots three through five during the 200-yard individual medley.
To wrap-up the day the team of Chenot, Kendall, Schattgen, and Wong finished third in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.39, while Colloca-Bianchi, Kanard, Keillor, and Wright were four seconds back at 1:32.07.
