Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team erupted in the second half, scoring six goals to post a 6-1 victory over visiting Alvernia University on Saturday.
The Red Devils did have opportunities in the first half, holding a 15-1 advantage in shots while forcing five corners on the offensive end.
They outshot the Golden Wolves 18-2 in the second, scoring twice in the opening three minutes. Senior Addy Zandi (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) served up an assist to Ally Diez (Rockville Center, N.Y./South Side) and then finished an assist from first-year Sarah Hughes (Media, Pa./Penncrest) just moments later.
Zandi struck again in the 56th minute, scoring off an assist from another first-year as Lauren Bracken (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Baldwin School) tallied her first collegiate assist.
Less than a minute later first-year Meg Tate (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) found the net for her second goal of the season, stretching the margin to 4-0 in the 57th minute.
Senior Caitlin Gugliotta (North Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield) gave Keira Shoup (Prince Frederick, Md./Calverton School) her first collegiate assist, netting a goal with just over 14 minutes remaining in the game.
The Red Devils closed out with another first-year goal as Phebe Guenther (Gladwyne, Pa./Friend's Central) broke into the scoring column with an assist from Emma Moore (Davidsonville, Md./St. Mary's).
The Golden Wolves drew a penalty kick and Kyla Gibson spoiled the shutout in the 88th minute for the 6-1 final.
Lily Sankey made seven saves for Alvernia before Riley Scepansky came on to make a save in the final 23 minutes.
Sophomore Emily Hull (Ashville, N.C./Wake Forest University) made two saves to earn the win in the nets.
The Red Devils improve to 3-0-2 on the season. They travel to Shenandoah University on Tuesday night for a 7:30 pm start.
