#19 Bates Overtakes #18 Red Devils at CSA Nationals

(New Haven, Conn.) – For the second straight season Bates College become a thorn in the side of the Dickinson women's squash team. #19-ranked Bates advanced to the final of the Walker Cup Division with a 9-0 decision at the College Squash Association Team Championships.

The #18-ranked Red Devils advanced to the Walker Cup final in 2018 but Bates came away with the win, setting the stage for what has proven to be an instant rivalry in collegiate squash.

Senior Alanis Perez (New Haven, Conn./Canterbury School) put up an epic battle in her flight, suffering a five-set decision (11-3, 9-11, 12-10, 9-11, 11-9).

First-year Lindsay Kuracina (Thorn Hill, Ontario Canada/Lake Forest, Ill.) went five-sets in the second flight before falling (12-10, 9-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-7).

Carley Barton (Harare, Zimbabwe/Chisipite) had a dominant second set, winning 11-1 and dropping the third 12-10 in a tough loss, going (11-6, 1-11, 12-10, 11-7).

Eloise Nimoityn (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Episcopal Academy) put up a fight in an (11-6, 12-10, 11-7) setback.

Senior Abbie Wingerd (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) went to the wire to close out the match. She traded a pair of marathon sets but fell in a great effort (7-11, 14-12, 8-11, 11-7, 13-11).

The Red Devils slip to 10-8 on the season. They will face Franklin & Marshall at 2:30 pm on Sunday.
