Women's Squash Falls at Brown to Start 2019

(Providence, R.I.) – The #17-ranked Dickinson women's squash team suffered a pair of setbacks on Friday, snapping a five-match win streak from last semester. The Red Devils dropped a 7-2 decision to #19-Tufts University and fell to host #10-ranked Brown University, 9-0.

First-year Lindsay Kuracina (Thorn Hill, Ontario, Canada/Lake Forest) claimed the top spot (11-6, 11-4, 11-3) while classmate Courtney Trail (Palmerston, N.Z./Palmerston North Girls School) overcame a 2-1 deficit to win the point in the second flight, 4-2 (16-14,8-11,7-11,11-9,11-6).

Nicole DeLuca (Newtown Square, Pa./Baldwin School) battled in the sixth flight (12-10, 0-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-5).

Host Brown improved to 3-3 on the season with the win in the nightcap. Aya Sobhy (Stroudsburg, Pa./Blair Academy) had a strong start and battled in a 3-1 setback in the three-spot (11-13, 11-2, 11-5, 11-3). DeLuca had strong start, dropping the first set of her match 12-10.

The Red Devils slip to 5-3 on the season. They face #16-Amherst College on Tuesday at 12:00 pm.
