(Baltimore, Md.) – The Dickinson football team had a tough outing at Johns Hopkins University on Saturday, falling 62-14 in Baltimore.

The Red Devils had a decent start, despite a pair of first-quarter touchdowns to give Hopkins a 14-0 lead. The Blue Jays put together a big second, putting 33 points on the board.

After the break, the Red Devils settled in and held the hosts to just a touchdown in the third and fourth quarters. The Blue Jays started on the Devils' six-yard line on one possession, but the Red Devil defense held, forcing a field-goal.

The Red Devils scored on its opening drive of the second half as Billy Burger (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) connected with Jake Walbert (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) for a six-yard score to cap a solid 53-play drive.

Burger hooked up with Christopher Longo (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) on a 26-yard pass and hit Walbert for a 22-yard gain to set up another Red Devil score in the fourth. Burger hit Longo from five yards out to close out a 75-yard drive.

Burger went 13-of-27 on the day, throwing for 134 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jeremy Walsh (Shickshinny, Pa./Northwest Area) covered 85 yards on the ground while Walbert finished with 76 yards receiving on the day.

First-year Johnny Knight (Warwick, Md./Bohemia Manor) led the defense with 10 tackles while James Turner (Ridgefield, Conn./Suffield Academy) added nine, including one for a loss and Ethan Warrick (Herndon, Va./Langley) tallied seven tackles. Brian Snow (Media, Pa./Episcopal) had another solid performance as well, recording seven stops and recovering a fumble, and John Searight (Galloway, N.J./Absegami) recorded a 12-yard sack.

The Red Devils slip to 1-3 on the season and 1-2 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face Susquehanna University on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
