Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.)- The Dickinson women's soccer team posted its fourth straight shutout, turning back visiting Alvernia University, 3-0, at Miller Memorial Field on Tuesday night.
Sophomore Olivia Termini (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) struck first for the third straight game, putting the Red Devils on the board in the 18th minute and tallied another as she finished an assist from Elizabeth Krause (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), just over two minutes later.
The Red Devils kept the pressure on, netting a third in the 27th minute as sophomore Briona Davis (Franklin Park, N.Y./Franklin) fed a beautiful cross to Krause directly in front of the goal.
Dickinson held possession for the majority of the half, not allowing a shot from the Crusaders. They remained in control in the second and continued to work the ball very well.
Davis had some early opportunities, ripping back-to-back shots off the cross bar and the post. The Red Devils maintained control of the match throughout but were unable to add to their goal total after the break.
Solid play from Alvernia goalkeeper Jessica Plunkett kept the score at 3-0, making nine saves in the second half to finish with 15 on the night.
Sophomore Mary Katherine Brosnan (Old Tappan, N.J./Northern Valley Old Tappan) and junior Amanda Masterson (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) split the shutout with Masterson recording the only save in the second half.
The Red Devils held a 33-1 shot advantage and forced three corners while allowing just one on the defensive end.
The Red Devils improve 4-0-1 on the season. They are home again on Saturday, hosting Haverford College in their Centennial Conference opener at 4:00 pm.
