(Swarthmore, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's swim team dropped a heartbreaker as Swarthmore College as the Garnet captured the final event to slip past the Red Devils, 104-101, on Saturday afternoon.
First-year Mitchell Reynolds (Frederick, Md./Frederick) had another strong outing in the distance events, winning both the 1,000 and 500 yard freestyle events.
Sophomore Alex Bennett (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) captured the 100 and 200 yard freestyle events and anchored the 400 free relay to a second place finish.
The Red Devils opened the meet with a win in the 400 medley relay. Chris Miles (Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) led-off the both the medley and free relays, and claimed another silver in the 200 backstroke.
Junior Alan Karickhoff (Willoughby, Ohio/Hawken School) anchored the winning medley relay, placing second in the 50 yard freestyle and third in the 100 free.
Sophomore Sam Eaton (Port Matilda, Pa./State College) earned a pair of wins, joining the medley relay and winning the 200 breaststroke. First-year Nick Beard (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) was second in the breaststroke, just ahead of junior Michael Lenker (Sparta, N.J./Sparta).
Beard finished just ahead of classmate Jake Beley (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) with a bronze in the 200 individual medley while Beley placed fourth in the 200 butterfly as well.
Senior Cameron Phillips (Woburn, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) swam the third leg of the medley and placed second in the 200 butterfly. Classmate Micah Smith (Clemons, N.C./West Forsyth) sprinted to third in the 50 free and second with the free relay.
The Red Devils slip to 5-7 overall and 1-5 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils will next compete at the Centennial Conference Championships on February 20th through the 22nd at Gettysburg College.
