(Carlisle, Pa.) – The #24-ranked Dickinson women's soccer team scored a pair of early goals and held on for a 2-1 win over Haverford College on Saturday. The win improved the Red Devils to 7-0 on the season and 1-0 as they claim the Centennial Conference opener.
Senior Allie Young (New Canaan, Conn./St. Luke's) put the Devils on the board, just seven minutes in, with assists from junior Jenna Lamb (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary) and senior Jess Swain (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends).
Young would return the favor, 10 minutes later serving up and assist to Swain to stretch the Dickinson lead to 2-0.
Haverford made things interesting in the second half as Connie Friedman found the net in the 69th minute.
Junior Charlotte Armour (New Haven, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) returned to the nets for the Devils, making seven saves in the win.
The Red Devils (7-0, 1-0 CC) have a big test on Tuesday, traveling to #3-ranked Messiah College on Tuesday night. Opening kick-off is set for 7:00 pm.
