(Reading, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team posted its second straight win, running past Alvernia University, 92-70 on Monday night.
First-year Jennifer Smith (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) had a career night, netting 29 points to go with 12 rebounds, five assists and three steals.
The Red Devils jumped out to an early lead, scoring the first eight points of the game. Dickinson stretched the margin to 23-9, at the midpoint of the half. The Red Devils led by as many as 18 in the first half, taking a 37-25 advantage, heading into the break.
The Devils remained in control for the remainder of the game, pulling in front by 23 on a Mary Martin (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdsale) field-goal.
Sarah Phillips (West Amwell, N.J./Hunterdon Central) knocked-down a pair of three-pointers, scoring 14 points. Smith hit 9-of-10 free throws and 10-of-15 shots from the field. Liz Schultz (Dunmore, Pa./Scranton Prep) had another strong outing, scoring 13 points and pulling down five rebounds.
Five Red Devils reached double-figures as Erica Buls (New Market, Md./Oakdale) scored 11 and Martin finished with 10.
First-year Kelsey Walsh (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) dished out seven assists and made a pair of steals.
Tyra Roberts and Kaitlyn Yoh each scored 12 points to lead Alvernia (4-7).
The Red Devils return home, and to Centennial Conference action on Wednesday, hosting Washington College at 8:00 pm.
