(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team struck twice in each half to post a, 4-0, non-conference win over visiting Albright on Monday night. The Red Devils posted their third consecutive shutout, and have outscored opponents, 13-0, over the past three games.
The Red Devils struck twice in a span of just over three minutes to take a 2-0 lead. Rosalin Savoie (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) put Dickinson on the board, splitting the defense and finding the back of the net in the 21st minute.
Ashley Fields (Far Hills, N.J./Ridge) squared-up and placed a lofting shot into the left corner from just outside the penalty area to stretch the lead to 2-0 in the 24th minute.
The Red Devils controlled play for the better part of the half, but the Lions managed to put together some strong runs on the attacking end, forcing three corners in the first half. The Devils held a 7-4 advantage in shots over the opening 45 minutes.
The Red Devils maintained control of the game for the better part of the match, adding a pair of goals after the break. Cate Maugle (Glenmoore, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) finished an assist from first-year Erin Sutphen (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) at the midway point of the second half.
First-year Jenna Lamb (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary) tacked on a late goal, scoring off a great build on the right side. Senior Hannah Richardson (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) crossed a ball that was redirected by sophomore Jess Swain (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington) to Lamb with just over five minutes remaining in regulation to close out the scoring.
Senior Annie Weichert (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) earned the win in goal and split the shutout with sophomore Liz Cassin (Summit, N.J./Summit) as the Red Devils held a 13-8 advantage in shots. Weichert made five saves on the night as the Lions held a 6-2 edge in corners.
Kelly Burian and Elizabeth McBride split time in the Albright nets, combining for a pair of saves as the Lions slip to 7-4 overall.
The Red Devils improve to 9-3 on the season. They travel to Swarthmore College on Wednesday night for a make-up date with the Garnet. Opening kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
