#11-Ranked Blue Jays Improve to 6-0

Box Score

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson football team suffered a 49-0 loss to #11-ranked Johns Hopkins University on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 6-0 on the season and 5-0 in the Centennial Conference.

The Red Devils found themselves trailing early, and were never able to recover as senior running back Jonathan Rigaud rushed for 130 yards and four touchdowns, scoring twice in the opening four minutes of the game.

The Blue Jays blocked a punt on the Devils' first possession and immediately scored from the six yard line as Rigaud found pay-dirt on the first play from scrimmage. The Blue Jays forced a fumble on the next possession and Rigaud scored, four plays later, finding the end zone from 10 yards out.

Rigaud capped a 70-yard drive with his third of the game, scoring from one yard out to stretch the lead to 21-0 with 7:41 remaining in the half. The Devils were forced to punt on their next possession, leading to an 80-yard drive for the Blue Jays as A.J. Safi pulled in a 10 yard touchdown pass from Robbie Matey at the 2:42 mark.

Junior Michael Miller (Hainesport, Pa./Bishop Eustace) made a great interception on the Blue Jays' opening drive of the second half. Hopkins held, however, forcing another Red Devil punt. They would answer with a four play, 52 yard scoring drive as J.D. Abbott finished things off with a five yard run.

The teams traded punts before the Blue Jays tacked on another score to give Rigaud his school-record tying fourth TD of the game.

The Devils gained some life as an Adam Kaminski (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) punt hit a Blue Jay and the Devils recovered to take possession at the Hopkins 41 yard line. The Devils moved the ball to the 18 yard line and lined-up for a field-goal. An miscue on the snap led to a fumble and put the ball back in the hands of Hopkins on their own 30 yard line.

They closed out the scoring with a 65 yard strike from Braden Anderson to Jared Beekman for the final of 49-0.

Rigaud led the way with 130 yard rushing while Daniel Wodicka caught six passes for 111 yards. Matey finished 19-for-26 for 261 yards while Anderson went 1-for-1 with the 65 yard touchdown pass.

First-year Shawn Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa./Malvern Prep) had a solid performance, covering 61 yards on eight attempts, to average 7.2 yards per carry. Miller led the defense with a game-high 12 tackles to go with his interception.

Sophomore Connor Thompson (Jenkintown, Pa./Father Judge) added 10 stops while Walker Moriarty (Snowmass Village, Colo./Aspen) tallied seven tackles and added a pair of sacks for a loss of 12 yards.

The Red Devils (2-4, 2-3) travel to McDaniel College next Saturday for a 1:00 kick-off.
