Dickinson College women's soccer team advanced to the semifinals of
the Centennial Conference Championship. |
The Red Devils converted all five penalty kicks and Hartmann
turned away Swarthmore's final attempt, following a 1-1 tie through
regulation and two overtime periods.
The Garnet went in front 1-0 on a breakaway goal from Kelsey
Cline with an assist from Hannah Purkey in the 29th minute.
The Devils held the advantage in possession and were finally
able to capitalize when junior Ashley Kunkle
(Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) broke through to tie the
game with just 9:50 remaining.
The Devils finished a beautiful cross with a header into the net
late in regulation, but were offsides. Swarthmore watched a shot
rebound off the post in the final seconds as well.
Marie Mutryn made 12 saves in goal for Swarthmore. Hartmann
finished with six saves on the night.
The Red Devils are 14-3-1 on the season. They will face top-seed
Muhlenberg on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
In the other semifinal, #3-Haverford will take on #2-Johns
Hopkins at 4:00 pm. The Championship Game is set for 1:00 pm on
Sunday.
