Kunkle Ties, Hartmann Saves, Devils Advance to CC Semifinals

Box Score
(Carlisle, Pa.) - Senior goalkeeper Kailyn Hartmann (Darien, Conn./St. Luke's) stopped the final shot of a shootout as the Dickinson College women's soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the Centennial Conference Championship.

The Red Devils converted all five penalty kicks and Hartmann turned away Swarthmore's final attempt, following a 1-1 tie through regulation and two overtime periods.

The Garnet went in front 1-0 on a breakaway goal from Kelsey Cline with an assist from Hannah Purkey in the 29th minute.

The Devils held the advantage in possession and were finally able to capitalize when junior Ashley Kunkle (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) broke through to tie the game with just 9:50 remaining.

The Devils finished a beautiful cross with a header into the net late in regulation, but were offsides. Swarthmore watched a shot rebound off the post in the final seconds as well.

Marie Mutryn made 12 saves in goal for Swarthmore. Hartmann finished with six saves on the night.

The Red Devils are 14-3-1 on the season. They will face top-seed Muhlenberg on Saturday at 1:00 pm.

In the other semifinal, #3-Haverford will take on #2-Johns Hopkins at 4:00 pm. The Championship Game is set for 1:00 pm on Sunday.
