Clarke Aquatic Center

The Clarke Aquatic Center opened in the Kline Center in 1980 and is home to the Red Devil men and women’s swimming programs. The venue features an eight-lane 25-yard pool and former diving well. The facility is named for Henry D. Clarke, Jr., a member of the class of 1955 and Trustee of the College.


SUMMER POOL HOURS

****FROM MAY 16 - JUNE 30, PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NATATORIUM WILL BE CLOSED, DUE TO A LARGE MAINTENANCE PROJECT TAKING PLACE. WE WILL UPDATE REGISTERED POOL USERS DURING THE WEEK OF JUNE 13 ON ANY CHANGES TO OUR PROJECTED OPENING DATE. ***

Summer Hours (Thursday, June 30 – Sunday, August 28)

Monday – Friday: 9 am – 5 pm

Saturday: 10 am – 1 pm

Sunday: 1 pm - 4 pm


Directions for Registering as a Pool User in the Summer of 2022 

Those interested in using the pool must complete the Clarke Aquatic Center Orientation (click link to access). Pool users should bring and present their email receipt from the orientation to the Kline Center front desk attendant during their first week using the pool, until the necessary systems are updated.

 We are pleased to be able to allow several groups to use Clarke Aquatic Center this summer: 

  • Current Dickinson College Students
  • Current Dickinson College Staff and Faculty 
  • Dickinson College Family, Retirees, & Alumni
  • Current Law School students (email quattron@dickinson.edu for membership info)
  • Approved U.S. Army War College individuals (email Col. Gallahue for information)

 EACH MEMBER OF THESE GROUPS MUST HAVE A COLLEGE ID CARD. The ID Card Office is located in the Holland Union Building: 28 N. College St., Carlisle, PA 17013. 

2022 Summer Guidelines for Pool Use:  

 Check-In & Locker Room

  1. All pool users need to enter the Kline Athletic Center through the Cherry Street entrance or High Street entrance utilizing their provided ID card. 
  2. Upon entering the Kline Athletic Center from Cherry Street, walk up the stairs, past the fitness center, squash courts, etc., and through the white double doors to the front desk by the climbing wall. From High Street, go up the ramp and to the front desk by the climbing wall.
  3. All pool users must check in at the front desk.
  4. Do not come to the Kline Athletic Center or the pool if you, or any member of your household or immediate points of contact, are not feeling well.
  5. Upon entering the locker room, you may place your belongings in a locker in the locker room. You are permitted to use locker rooms, restrooms, and showers without restriction. If you are interested in a locker, please talk to the front desk attendant.

 On-Deck Guidelines 

  1. In keeping with the college’s policy, masks are not required at this time but are welcome for those who choose to wear them. Do not wear masks in the water - doing so is a safety hazard. 
  2. Please clean up all personal belongings when leaving the pool area and locker room.
  3. Water fountains on the pool deck are closed, but the bottle filler is open for use.

 In-Water Guidelines

  1. Kickboards, noodles, pool toys, aqua jogger belts, etc. may be available at the discretion of the lifeguard on duty.
