CARLISLE, Pa. - Today we continue with our Athletic Trainers Appreciation Month recognition by highlighting our athletic trainer for the Red Devils women's soccer, women's basketball and baseball programs Danielle (Dani) Cook.
Cook is in her third year here at Dickinson. Growing up in Chateaugay, New York, Cook was a tri sport athlete in high school, playing basketball, soccer, and softball. After high school, she continued her athletic career at North Country Community College where she played basketball and soccer before transferring to SUNY Cortland. Cook's interest in becoming an athletic trainer peaked while observing an athletic trainer at a college football game. She also wanted to work in a sports atmosphere and have the opportunity to help keep athletes safe and healthy. She would receive her Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training from SUNY Cortland before attending East Stroudsburg University where she obtained her Master's of Science in Athletic Training and Advanced Clinical Practice. Her first experience in the field came from serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for East Stroudsburg's men's soccer, football, and men's and women's wrestling programs. She was then attracted to Dickinson because everything about the university reminded her of SUNY Cortland, which she loved. Since coming to Dickinson, her favorite part of being an athletic trainer has been building relationships with her athletes and co-workers. She loves working closely with a diverse group of teams and athletes and finds it most rewarding to know that she plays a role in helping student athletes achieve their goals and do what they love. Outside of athletic training, Cook enjoys working out, reading, spending time at the lake, and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys supporting the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills.
Stay tuned to dickinsonathletics.com tomorrow and the rest of the week as we honor the remainder of our outstanding athletic trainers.
