CARLISLE, Pa. - For the first time since the final weekend in October the Dickinson women's swimming team returned to the Clarke Aquatic Center for a competitive meet as the Red and White welcomed local rival Messiah University for a non-conference clash on Saturday afternoon. The Devils used multiple wins and a strong overall performance to pick up a 113-91 win over the Falcons.
Dickinson started out by sending two teams to compete in the 400-yard medley relay. The first unit of
Madeline Dold,
Sydney Farling,
Anna Gnagey and
Tori May claimed second at 4:12.51, while the other team with
Bella Gerkin,
Izzy Klonsky,
Sarah McHenry and
Sarah Mulcahy nabbed third (4:19.14).
Emma Johnston grabbed the first win for DC during 1000-yard freestyle by getting to the wall in 11:35.60, followed by
Meghan Schmidt and
Annelyse Warner in fourth (11:58.59) and fifth (12:41.92) respectively.
Gnagey won the second event in a row for Dickinson as she toppled the field in the 200-yard freestyle with a 2:01.96, while Farling landed in fourth (2:11.17) and Isobell O'Connell secured fifth (2:12.40).
The winning streak continued for the home side during the 50-yard freestyle with
Caitlin Gross touching the wall in 25.14, followed by Dold at 27.06 for fourth.
It became four straight victories for the Red and White when May stopped the clock at 4:48.86 to win the 400-yard individual medley with Mulcahy taking second in 5:02.35.
Dickinson just kept on rolling as Gnagey won the 100-yard butterfly with a 1:01.27 which beat out her teammate Johnston who posted a 1:03.15 for second. Gerkin also competed and nabbed sixth (1:08.97).
Gross made it six in a row by besting the field for the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.57, followed by Schmidt and Warner in fourth (58.20) and fifth (1:05.40).
The streak ended in the 100-yard backstroke as McHenry was the highest finishing Devil taking second at 1:03.62, while O'Connell locked up fourth (1:08.66).
May got the Red and White back on the top of the podium during the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:27.73. Klonsky returned to action as well and nabbed fourth in 5:41.98.
Farling and Mulcahy competed in the 100-yard breaststroke and posted times of 1:14.52 and 1:16.48 for third and fifth.
Dickinson ended the day by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:45.17 put up by Dold, Gross, McHenry and Schmidt. The other DC group of Gerkin, Johnston, Klonsky and O'Connell seized third at 1:48.61.

Dickinson (5-4) will get back to work next Saturday at 1pm when they visit Bryn Mawr College for a conference matchup.
