BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Dickinson men's basketball team put four players in double-figures led by a perfect shooting day (8-8) for senior forward
David Petrusev as he scored a game-high 21 points helping the Red and White tally 48 points in the second half en route to claiming their first win of the season with an 81-39 triumph over the host Pratt Institute on Saturday afternoon.
- Buckets for Matias Alkemade and Mekhi Davis gave the hosts an early 4-0 lead, but Andrew Cerullo, Matt Mahoney and Petrusev answered with a dozen straight to make it 12-4 with eight minutes gone.
- A triple by Sebastian Roda then sparked an 8-3 charge for Pratt over the ensuing two minutes to close within 15-12.
- Petrusev then collected nine of the Devils next eleven points as Isaiah Edmond contributed the other two during an 11-4 DC run giving the Red and White a ten-point cushion with 6:09 left (26-16).
- Ace Bibbs and Davis helped the Cannoneers to trim the gap down to 31-25, before Cole Cosby cashed in a pass from Petrusev to take a 33-25 advantage to the locker room.
- Alkemade started the frame with a layup, but Brandon Wiercinski, Cosby and Petrusev went on an 11-0 gallop to blow the lead out to 44-27 with just over six minutes gone.
- Two free throws by Thomas Graetz slowed things for just a second as Cerullo, Cosby, Edmond and Wiercinski came storming back with 15 unanswered points (59-29).
- Triples from Joey Dopirak and Wiercinski along with two foul shots by Edmond extended the gap to 67-34 with 13:27 gone.
- Dickinson continued to just rain down threes the rest of the game as Tyler Lawrence, Charlie Lynch, B.J. McNeil and Cerullo all hit from deep to set the 81-39 final.Â
