Game One - DEVILS, 4, Blazers 0
Pitching Decision
W -
Lindsay Kucker (2-1) | L - Jordan Long (1-1) | S -
Riley Kuehn (1)
Inside the Game
After a scoreless first, Dickinson got on the board in the second when with one-out Whelan blasted her first collegiate home over the left-field wall. Kucker allowed a leadoff walk in the home-half of the frame, but got two groundouts and a strikeout to retire the side. The game stay 1-0 until the fourth when DC added their second run of the game as
Paige Hahn doubled, before Whelan produced her second RBI of the day with a sac fly that plated pinch-runner
Emma Varella for the 2-0 edge through three-and-a-half. Kucker appeared to run into trouble in the last of the fourth giving up two one-out knocks. However, she allowed no damage as Izzy Tanacea and Long both popped up to end the threat.
The Red and White went back to work in the fifth looking for some insurance which they would find as
Devon Kueny and Lloyd both singled with two gone to bring up Blanker. She made it 4-0 by roping a two-run double to deep center. Hahn had visions of adding another run, but she lined out to third for the last out. A hit batter and a double with two down gave the Blazers an opportunity in the fifth, but Kucker got Rachel Benden to flyout. Kuehn then took over in the circle for the sixth and hurled two scoreless frames to lockdown the save and the win.
Game Two - DEVILS 7, Blazers 5
Pitching Decision
W -
Riley Kuehn (3-1) | L - Lindsay Wilson (0-1)
Inside the Game
After a "three up, three down" top of the first for Rebecca Gottleib the Blazers got their first run of the day when a walk and double off of Devils starter
Kaylie Renner led to Benden reaching on a fielder's choice allowing a runner to score for a 1-0 edge through one. However, Dickinson found an immediate response when Hahn smoked her first home run of the year over the fence in right. Blanker followed with a double and
Zoe Kleeblatt reached on an error, but Gottleib then setdown the ensuing three hitters keep things tied at 1-1. The bottom of the frame saw Hood reclaim the lead as a single for Long and walk to Gabby Carton put two on with one out for Chloe Saunders. She would produce an RBI groundout to second for the 2-1 edge at the end of two.
In the fourth, a single for Kleeblatt and walk to Renner by new pitcher Benden was followed by a sac bunt from
Emma Glosson put two in scoring position for Sandusky. She would rip a single to left to plate one, before Kueny drove in another with a knock of her own to center. Lloyd then extended the margin to 4-2 with a smash to right-field driving home Sandusky.
Abby Kohan and Hahn both popped up to then stall the rally. An inning later Dickinson made it 5-2 when Blanker blasted one over the left-field wall.
The game went to home part of the sixth with the visitors continuing to hold a 5-2 advantage. Unfortunately, though for the Red and White the Blazers would tally three times off of Kuehn (who took over in the fourth) thanks to two doubles and two DC miscues in the field leaving things locked at 5-5 going to the seventh. Hahn led things off by reaching on an error by the third baseman. That was then followed by a single for Blanker and free pass to Renner to load the bases for Glosson. She reached on a fielder's choice, but unfortunately watched Whelan (running for Hahn) be thrown out at the dish. Sandusky then followed with a two-run single to center plating two. The inning would then end on a flyout by Kueny. In the Blazers last chance Kuehn allowed a two-out knock to Long, before getting Wilson to flyout to center ending the game.
