LANCASTER, Pa. - The Dickinson women's swimming team began their 2023-24 slate on Saturday afternoon at the Centennial East Quad Meet inside the Kunkel Aquatic Center on the campus of Franklin & Marshall College. The Red and White secured one win on the day edging out Washington College (151-102), while also falling to Ursinus College (160-99) and Franklin & Marshall (163-98).
Dickinson began the day strong with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay as the team of
Bella Gerkin,
Anna Gnagey,
Emma Johnston and
Norah Wilson clocked in at 1:55.55, while the unit of
Sarah Mulcahy,
Annelyse Warner,
Margie Winter and
Carolyn Wolujewicz posted a 2:05.24.
Tori May continued the solid start to the meet with a second-place result for the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:59.88, followed by Emily Carkhuff (5th - 11:26.24) and
Molly Whitaker (7th - 11:57.51).
A trio of Devils took on the 200-yard freestyle as Gnagey fell just outside the Top-3 in fourth (2:02.83), Wolujewicz completed the Top-10Â in 2:15.80 and Warner rounded out the field in 12th (2:19.05).
Sarah McHeny had her first action on the year in the 100-yard backstroke taking fourth by hitting the wall in 1:03.57, while Isobell O'Connell held down eighth with a 1:06.92.
The Red and White showcased some talent during the 100-yard breaststroke when Gerkin and
Sydney Farling took up second (1:13.62) and third (1:14.41) respectively.Â
Johnston earned a Top-3 finish for the 200-yard butterfly with a 2:19.76. Mulcahy (6th - 2:24.38) and
Lillie Deaton Connor (7th - 2:28.25) also took part in the event.
Wilson completed the Top-5 in the 50-yard freestyle by clocking in at 26.81, followed by Winter in 11th after posting a 27.85.
The group of O'Connell, Wilson and Wolujewicz occupied 10th through 12th during the 100-yard freestyle with times of 1:00.17, 1:01.69 and 1:02.53.
May tallied her second second-place result of the day in the 200-yard backstroke by getting to the wall in 2:11.42. Connor and McHenry completed the race within a second of each other posting marks of 2:21.27 (5th) and 2:21.36 (6th).
Four Devils earned Top-10 finishes for the 200-yard breaststroke led by Farling in third (2:40.35), followed by Mulcahy (4th - 2:41.65), Gerkin (6th - 2:44.52) and Whitaker (8th - 2:46.87).
Johnston recorded another Top-3 mark during the 500-yard freestyle as she clocked in at 5:27.53 for second, while Warner landed inside the Top-10 in ninth thanks to a 6:11.60.
Gnagey got the wall in 1:01.71 for second in the 100-yard butterfly. McHenry and Winter posted times of 1:07.66 (9th) and 1:09.79 (11th) respectively.
May picked up Top-5 finish number three of the afternoon during the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:18.73, followed by Connor (7th - 2:26.42), Mulcahy (10th - 2:28.52) and Gerkin (13th - 2:33.71).
The Red and White grabbed sixth for the 400-yard freestyle relay as Gnagey, Johnston, O'Connell and Wilson hit the wall in 3:56.67, while the unit of Farling, Whitaker, Winter and Wolujewicz clocked in at 4:07.69.

Dickinson (1-2, 1-2 Centennial) will take a week off before returning to action on Saturday, November 4th when they visit the University of Scranton for a 12pm start. Â
