Men's Squash Suffers Sunday Setbacks

(Charlottesville, Va.) - The #25-ranked Dickinson men's squash team suffered a pair of setbacks on Sunday at the Mid-Atlantic Championships at the University of Virginia.

The Red Devils suffered an 8-1 loss to #19-MIT in the morning match and dropped an 9- decision to #15-George Washington University.

Abdelrahman Elsergany (Cairo, Egypt/Kent School, Conn.) claimed the lone point against MIT, posting a straight set win in the top flight (11-7, 11-6 ,11-6).

The Red Devils earned just one point but played a number of competitive matches with four flights going to 3-2 decisions.

Alex Wattles (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook) had a strong start and went five sets in a tough loss in the second flight (7-11, 4-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-6). Tanay Murdia (New Fatehpura Udaipur, India / Delhi Public School) and Keith Lamp went 20-18 in the opening set with Lamp taking the match 3-1.

Murdia went four sets to lead the Red Devils in the George Washington match (7-11, 12-10, 11-7, 12-10).

The Red Devils slip to 3-11 on the season. They return home to host St. Lawrence University on February 8th at 5:00 pm.
