Diplomats Edge Men's Squash 5-4

(Philadelphia, Pa.) – The #22-ranked Dickinson men's squash team suffered a tough loss to #7-ranked Drexel University and put up a strong challenge before falling to #15-Franklin & Marshall, 5-4, on Saturday.

The Dragons swept the Red Devils, 9-0, in the opening match of the day. First-year Finn Trimble (Whangarei, New Zealand / Whangarei) battled in the second flight, before falling 3-2 (7-11, 11-6, 11-8, 9-11, 11-7).

The Red Devils claimed four points in the top five flights against F&M as junior Abdelrahman Elsergany (Cairo, Egypt/Kent School, Conn.) won in four sets in the number one spot (11-9, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9).

Trimble had another tough match, but survived a five-set marathon to claim the second flight (12-10, 11-9, 12-14, 10-12, 13-11).

First-year Sergio Martin (Queretaro, Mexico/Redwood, Calif.) and junior Hal Holappa (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) earned 3-1 decisions in the fourth and fifth flights while Alex Wattles (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook) and Vince Warzecha (Chester Springs, Pa./Malvern Prep) both went five sets before falling 3-2.

The Red Devils move to 2-1 on the season. They travel to Williams College next weekend to face both Williams and Cornell University on Saturday.
