(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team came up short against visiting Washington College, falling 113-92 on Saturday afternoon.
The Shorewomen captured a number of wins on the day, but the Red Devils kept pace with a significant number of second and third-place showings.
Senior Emily Houser (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) had a strong meet, winning the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:05.29), placing second in the 500 free (5:26.99) and with the 400 free relay (3:48.39).
Sophomore Katie Schmidt (Orono, Minn./Breck School) touched the wall first in the 200 backstroke (2:11.82) and place second with the 400 free relay and in the 200 freestyle event (2:03.48).
First-year Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) had a similar outing with a win in the 200 butterfly (2:14.47) and a second in the 50 free (25.98). Sternick anchored the free relay for her second silver of the day.
Senior Jacqulyn Teller (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) claimed one silver with the 200-medley relay and added two more in the 200 individual medley (2:20.53) and the 200 breaststroke (2:38.01).
First-year Demetria Ruhl (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) finished third in both the 1000 (11:15.48) and 500-yard freestyle (5:29.62) events, and placed third in the 400 free relay. Classmate Madeline Callahan (Westtown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) was second in the medley relay and posted third-place finishes in the 200 individual medley (2:20.96) and the 200 backstroke (2:17.31).
Sophomore Sammy Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) was third in the 50 (26.13) and 100-freestyle (57.32), and led-off the second place free relay.
Senior Tanita Leary (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) earned a silver with the medley relay and a bronze in the free relay. Classmate Genna Kranis (Bellmore, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) anchored the third place free relay and was third in the 200 butterfly with a mark of 2:27.58.
The Red Devils slip to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again next Saturday, hosting Franklin & Marshall at 1:00 pm.
