(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team turned in some strong individual performances but suffered a tough loss to visiting Division-II Bloomsburg University on Saturday. The Huskies came away with the win, 133-64.
Sophomore Olivia Lyman (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) had a great meet, winning both the 1,000 and 500-yard freestyle events. She clocked a time of 10:33.66 in the 1,000 and kept a strong pace in the 500 to post a winning time of 5:11.77.
Lyman led-off the 200 free relay and a great anchor leg from first-year Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) earned the Red Devils a second place finish. Sternick also had another strong showing in the 100 butterfly, touching the wall first with a mark of 59.62. She added a third-place finish with the 200 medley relay as well (1:55.71).
First-year Lindsay Robinson (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) went two-three-four on the day. She earned silver in the 200 individual medley (2:21.38), finished third with the medley relay and was fourth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.66.
Sophomore Katie Schmidt (Orono, Minn./The Breck School) finished second in the backstroke with a time of 1:02.04 and finished fourth in the 200 freestyle, coming in at 2:03.05. Classmate Sammy Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) captured silver in the 50 freestyle with a mark of 26.01 and anchored the medley relay for bronze.
First-year Madeline Callahan (Westtown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) led-off the medley and swam the second leg of the free relay, adding a third-place finish in the 100 freestyle, posting a time of 56.73. Classmate Demetria Ruhl (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) was third in the 100 butterfly (1:01.99) and swam the third leg of the free relay.
The Red Devils slip to 4-2 on the season. They are home again on November 29th, hosting Messiah College at 7:00 pm.
