The Red Devils have endured their share of close defeats this season, and Saturday proved to be another as first-year Peter Scanlon (Centreville, VA/Westfield) hit two free throws with less than one second on the clock to give Hopkins the win.

The Devils turned in another strong performance, taking a 25-22 lead at halftime. The Devils continued to play well in the second half, stretching the lead to as many as 14 points.

The Blue Jays went on an 15-4 run over the final seven minutes to pull within one on a Mike Rhoads (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) three-pointer with just 40 seconds remaining in the game.

Trevor Kenny (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) hit a free throw to give the Devils a two-point advantage with 34 seconds to play.

An offensive foul put the ball back in the hands of Dickinson and Hopkins was forced to foul. The Devils missed both and Hopkins' Andrew Farber-Miller (Charlottesville, VA/St. Anne's-Belfield) was fouled on the rebound.

Farber-Miller converted both to tie the game at 50 with 23 seconds left in regulation. Following a Dickinson miss Scanlon was fouled with 0.6 seconds on the clock. The first-year hit both free throws to give Hopkins a 52-50 victory.

Rhoads and Farber-Miller each scored 12 points to lead Hopkins (8-6, 4-3).

Chris Barsanti (Hummelstown, Pa./Tilton School) scored a team-high 10 points for Dickinson. Kenny hit 4-of-5 shots from the field for 10 points as well.

Doug Jakiela (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) returned to action, scoring eight points and controlling seven rebounds.

The Red Devils slip to 0-13 overall and 0-8 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face #11-ranked Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday at 8:00 pm.
